The Establishing Shot: ELIMINATE ARCHIE COOKSON TO HAVE US PREMIERE AT MILL VALLEY FILM FESTIVAL 2011

Eliminate: Archie Cookson to have US Premier at Mill Valley Film Festival 2011

Director’s debut feature film described as “Tinker, Tailor....with laughs”

Eliminate: Archie Cookson

ELIMINATE: Archie Cookson, the UK debut feature film from Writer/Director Rob Holder, is to have its US Premier at the 34th Mill Valley Film Festival. This follows the film’s screening at the Montreal Film Festival in August 2011. Mill Valley Film Festival takes place 6– 16 October in California and is a world-renowned festival with a reputation as a filmmakers’ festival.

ELIMINATE: Archie Cookson has given the classic spy thriller genre a comedy twist whilst retaining all that is British in terms of visual and artistic style and reference. The film stars Paul Rhys (Being Human) as the eponymous downtrodden spy reduced to the role of linguist in a dusty government basement. His life takes a further turn for the worse, when stolen secret tapes land on his desk and Archie becomes the target of the frenzied hit man sent to retrieve them. The film also stars Claire Skinner (Outnumbered), Paul Ritter and Screen International’s Star of Tomorrow 2011 Georgia King.

“I am very proud to have our film selected for Mill Valley and I am excited to introduce Archie’s very peculiar world of British espionage to an American audience for the first time” says Writer and Director Rob Holder.

ELIMINATE: Archie Cookson was independently financed by UK-based Agent Pictures, and produced by Ioanna Karavela and Executive Produced by David Bunker. Rob Holder is currently working on his next project, The Hostage Protocol with Agent Pictures again producing. International sales are being handled by Seven and Seven Productions.

Part entertainment, part brutal intimidation of the subjugated districts, the televised games are broadcasted throughout Panem as the 24 participants are forced to eliminate their competitors, literally, with all citizens required to watch. When 16-year-old Katniss' young sister, Prim, is selected as the mining district's female representative, Katniss volunteers to take her place. The Establishing Shot: THE TAPES TRAILER

In the winter of 2008, three teenage friends, Nathan (Oceng), Gemma (Sparkes) and her boyfriend Dan (Maza), visited Whitstable, Kent to shoot location footage for Gemma’s showreel and her Big Brother TV show audition video. While filming in one of the area’s many pubs, they briefly encountered a local farmer and were later informed by the barmaid that the man was a harmless ‘swinger’ who regularly hosted sex parties at his nearby farm.

Seeing an opportunity to make some easy money by breaking into the farm to secretly film one of the parties and then selling the bootleg DVDs for cash, Nathan and Dan convinced Gemma to accompany them by promising to finish her showreel at the same time. But things soon began to turn extremely sinister when the farmer and his guests began arriving at the farmhouse and the three friends found themselves trapped in a dingy barn as darkness fell.

These events and the horrific details of what happened next only came to light when the police discovered the videotapes recorded by Nathan, Dan and Gemma. Now, the families of the victims have allowed The Tapes to be shown to the public for the first time. What you will see documents the shocking and terrifying final hours of three teenagers who found themselves in the wrong place at the wrong time.

A gritty, urban teen horror that takes its “found footage” cue from the likes of “The Blair Witch Project”, “REC” and “The Zombie Diaries”, The Tapes adds a rare and chilling sense of realism to the proceedings thanks to utterly convincing performances from its excellent young cast and fine location work that suggests the horror really could happen here.

Written by Scott Bates and co-directed by Bates and Lee Alliston, The Tapes is a brand new independent British horror film starring Jason Maza (Demons Never Die; Anuvahood; Fish Tank), Arnold Oceng (Demons Never Die; 4.3.2.1.; Adulthood; Grange Hill), Natasha Sparkes (Burlesque Fairytales) and Nick Nevern (Terry; Adulthood).

The Tapes (cert. tbc) is released in selected UK cinemas on 23 September 2011. It will be available to buy on DVD 3 October 2011.

Francois lives a skillfully controlled, well managed life, in Bloemfontein, South Africa. Father of two daughters and a devoted husband, he is wholly unprepared when a chance encounter unravels his clean and ordered existence.23-year-old Christian is the son of a long lost friend. By all accounts he is the personification of a handsome young man in the prime of his life. Francois is so disarmed by the young man that it instantly ignites within him an all consuming infatuation and misplaced lust.

Winner of the Queer Palm at this year's Cannes Film Festival, Oliver Hermanus' impressive examination of one man's damaging self-hatred is a disturbing and provocative piece of work. In dealing with such contentious subjects as homophobia and racism in contemporary South Africa with unapologetic candour, Beauty challenges the viewer to understand the plight of someone trapped by their environment and desperate to ignore the truth, no matter what the cost.

The Establishing Shot: THE CHANGE-UP - MITCH & DAVE TELL JAMIE ABOUT THE CHANGE-UP CLIP

Ryan Reynolds and Jason Bateman star in The Change-Up, from director David Dobkin (Wedding Crashers), writers Jon Lucas & Scott Moore (The Hangover) and producer Neal Moritz (Fast & Furious, Click). The R-rated comedy takes the traditional body-switching movie, ties it up tightly and throws it off a cliff.

Growing up together, Mitch (Reynolds) and Dave (Bateman) were inseparable best friends, but as the years have passed they’ve slowly drifted apart. While Dave is an overworked lawyer, husband and father of three, Mitch has remained a single, quasi-employed man-child who has never met a responsibility he liked. To Mitch, Dave has it all: beautiful wife Jamie (Leslie Mann), kids who adore him and a high-paying job at a prestigious law firm. To Dave, living Mitch’s stress free life without obligation or consequence would be a dream come true.

Following a drunken night out together, Mitch and Dave’s worlds are turned upside down when they wake up in each other’s bodies and proceed to freak the &*#@ out.

Despite the freedom from their normal routines and habits, the guys soon discover that each other’s lives are nowhere near as rosy as they once seemed. Further complicating matters are Dave’s sexy legal associate, Sabrina (Olivia Wilde), and Mitch’s estranged father (Alan Arkin). With time not on their side, Mitch and Dave comically struggle to avoid completely destroying each other’s lives before they can find a way to get their old ones back.

The Establishing Shot: NEW WOODY ALLEN MIDNIGHT IN PARIS TRAILER - trailer

A romantic comedy about a family staying in the French capital for business. The party includes a young engaged couple forced to confront the illusion that a life different from their own could be better.

Even for people who have never been to Paris, the name of the city is more than a metaphor for magic—it’s almost a synonym. Certainly there’s no better place on earth that Woody Allen could have chosen for his new romantic comedy than Paris. It is a city with a unique mythology and heritage, celebrated for the extraordinary beauty of its streets, boulevards and gardens, as well as the splendor found inside so many of the greatest museums in the world. The resonance of its history, from major political and cultural events to the aura of its legendary restaurants and cafes, is felt everywhere. The past endures and shines brightly in Paris, which makes it well-suited for a story of a man reinvigorating his feelings and finding inspiration to reflect on his life.

MIDNIGHT IN PARIS is Woody Allen’s valentine to the City of Light, which he considers equal to New York as the great city of the world. “Of course I’m partial to New York because I was born there and grew up there,” he says, “but if I didn’t live in New York, Paris is the place I would live.” The film is the second time Allen has filmed there, after a small bit of EVERYONE SAYS I LOVE YOU. “I get great enjoyment out of presenting Paris to the cinema audience the way I see it,” he says. “Just as with New York, where I present it one way, and other directors present it other ways, somebody else could come and shoot Paris in a completely different way. I want to present it my way, projecting my own feelings about it.”

Allen fell in love with Paris during the shooting of WHAT’S NEW PUSSYCAT, his debut film as an actor and writer. Much like Gil, the protagonist of MIDNIGHT IN PARIS, he’s rueful about not staying there after the filming, as others on the film did. “It was an adventure that was too bold for me at the time,” he says. “In retrospect I could have stayed, or at the very minimum taken an apartment and divided my time—but I didn’t, and I regret that.”

MIDNIGHT IN PARIS stars Owen Wilson, Rachel McAdams, Marion Cotillard, Kathy Bates, and Carla Bruni.

The Establishing Shot: UK CINEMAS ANNOUNCED FOR GEORGE HARRISON: LIVING IN THE MATERIAL WORLD THEATRICAL RELEASE

Martin Scorsese documentary surveys the life and times of the iconic musician

Released across the UK on October 4thFROM GROVE STREET, SPITFIRE PICTURES AND SIKELIA

LONDON, September 12 2011 – Arts Alliance Media announced today that it will be releasing Martin Scorsese’s GEORGE HARRISON: LIVING IN THE MATERIAL WORLD presented by Grove Street Pictures in cinemas across the UK on 4th October 2011. The film was produced by Scorsese (through his Sikelia Productions banner), Olivia Harrison (through her Grove Street Pictures banner) and Grammy Award winning Nigel Sinclair (through Exclusive’s documentary label, Spitfire Pictures). Margaret Bodde served as executive producer on the film, which was edited by David Tedeschi, who previously worked with Scorsese, Bodde and Sinclair on “No Direction Home: Bob Dylan,” and with Scorsese and Bodde on “Public Speaking.” Tedeschi also edited Scorsese’s Rolling Stones concert film “Shine a Light.”

GEORGE HARRISON: LIVING IN THE MATERIAL WORLD focuses the imaginative and inspired eye of one of cinema’s most preeminent filmmakers on one of the world’s most influential men. The film takes viewers on the musical and spiritual voyage that was George Harrison’s life, much of it told in his own words. The result is deeply moving and touches each viewer in unique and individual ways.

Academy Award®-winning director Martin Scorsese traces Harrison’s life from his musical beginnings in Liverpool through his life as a musician, a seeker, a philanthropist and a filmmaker, weaving together interviews with Harrison and his closest friends, performances, home movies and photographs. Much of the material in the film has never been seen or heard before. The result is a rare glimpse into the mind and soul of one of the most talented artists of his generation and a profoundly intimate and affecting work of cinema. The film includes interviews with Eric Clapton, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, George Martin, Paul McCartney, Yoko Ono, Tom Petty, Phil Spector, Ringo Starr and Jackie Stewart. They speak honestly and frankly about George’s many talents and contradictions.

Comments Scorsese, “Like so many millions of people, I first came to know George through the music, which was the soundtrack of our world. The Beatles’ music, those beautifully lyrical guitar breaks and solos, those unforgettable songs of George’s like ‘I Me Mine’ or ‘If I Needed Someone,’ and the images, in magazines, on album covers, the TV appearances, the newsreel footage, the Richard Lester movies; and then there was the world after the Beatles, when George and his music seemed to open up and flower. I will never forget the first time I heard ‘All Things Must Pass,’ the overwhelming feeling of taking in that all glorious music for the first time. It was like walking into a cathedral. George was making spiritually awake music – we all heard and felt it – and I think that was the reason that he came to occupy a very special place in our lives. So when I was offered the chance to make this picture, I jumped at it. Spending time with Olivia, interviewing so many of George’s closest friends, reviewing all that footage, some of it never seen before, and listening to all of that magnificent music – it was a joy, and an experience I’ll always treasure”.

Notes Olivia Harrison, “Martin Scorsese’s intuition towards George was evident the first time we met to discuss this project. He sensed what George was about: his music, his strong beliefs, his art, his place in the Beatles’ story and his extraordinary life afterwards. Marty’s wonderful film has found all of that and more”.

“This film was an extraordinary journey for all involved and it has been a sheer pleasure working with Martin Scorsese and Olivia Harrison to bring the amazing story and legacy of George Harrison to life,” adds Nigel Sinclair, CEO of Exclusive Media Group.

GEORGE HARRISON: LIVING IN THE MATERIAL WORLD will enjoy a unique, simultaneous theatrical release on October 4th, and will screen for one night only in cinemas around the UK. Participating cinemas include Picturehouse and selected independents. Current cinema listings can be found below. The most up to date cinema listings can be found at www.facebook.com/georgeharrison

In addition to the October 4th screenings, Picturehouse at FACT in Liverpool will be hosting a premiere screening on Sunday October 2nd, and there will be an extended run of a week (October 3rd – 9th) at the Ritzy Cinema in Brixton, London. Tickets for all shows are on sale now.

Additionally, in October, Abrams Books will publish Olivia Harrison’s “George Harrison: Living in the Material World,” a personal archive of photographs, letters, diaries and memorabilia from George’s life that reveals the arc of his life, from his guitar-obsessed boyhood in Liverpool, to the astonishment of the Beatles years, to his days as an independent musician and bohemian squire. The book release is intended to coincide with the release of Scorsese’s film.

The Establishing Shot: UNTIL THE LIGHT TAKES US UK RELEASE DATE & TRAILER

Until the Light Takes Us chronicles the history, ideology and aesthetic of Norwegian black metal - a musical subculture infamous as much for a series of murders and church arsons as it is for its unique musical and visual aesthetics. This is the first (and only) film to truly shed light on a movement that has heretofore been shrouded in darkness and rumor and obscured by inaccurate and shallow depictions. Featuring exclusive interviews and verité with the musicians, a wealth of rare, seldom seen footage from the "Inner Circle"s earliest days, Until the Light Takes Us explores every aspect of the controversial movement that has captured the attention of the world.

This is the movie that gets inside the minds and hearts of black metal's musicians. The filmmakers moved to Norway, living and filming there for two years. The movie is not about them though - it's about the extraordinary people and events that make black metal unique, unforgettable, and inevitable. This is black metal as seen through the eyes of those who created it, of those who live it, of those who are at the center of the story of black metal.

A great piece of work – The Guardian

Aites and Ewell deal their cards in an unexpected way over 98 minutes… pretty irresistible – Screen Daily

An expertly made documentary, which teases out a gripping story, refuses to judge its participants and shows how even the most ferocious underground movement can be corrupted and commodified by the media – Empire

Until the Light Takes Us is out on VOD in the UK on 15 September, 2011

It will be available on iTunes: http://itunes.apple.com/gb/movie/until-the-light-takes-us/id458943163
